Giraffada is based on true events and tells the story of Ziad, who lives with his father in the only surviving zoo in Palestine. The boy spends every free minute with the giraffes Rita and Brownie and earns only ridicule from his classmates with his enthusiasm for the animals. When Brownie is seriously injured and dies after an Israeli air raid, Rita refuses to eat. The father decides to find a new partner for the female giraffe. But the only eligible male lives behind a wall in Israel that is insurmountable for Palestinians.
